This marks Box Components first foray in creating a mountain bike group and it's a good one. The Box Two 11-Speed Rear Derailleur is its entry-level offering leaving plenty in the bank for some mountain bike trips or post ride tacos. It's careful engineering, quality materials, and R&D create a derailleur that's very much ready to compete against some of the bigger names in the component game. Like any good, modern mountain bike rear derailleur, the Box Two possesses a clutch system which it dubs the Tri-Pack limited slip clutch. And just like the other clutch systems, its purpose is to reduce derailleur cage movement and chain slap while also providing better tension and increased wrap for better chain management. Its clutch pack consists of disc springs, pressure plates, friction discs, and a one-way roller bearing to provide a great deal of force in a small package. The derailleur uses 3D forged linkages which help improve its impact resistance and strengthens the material for durability. Its cage and body use 6061-T6 aluminum and glass fiber and nylon composite to keep things light and the ability to fend off errant trail debris and the hardware consists of aluminum and Cr-Moly, again keeping the durable and light vibe going. Other thoughtful details include its impact resistant, spring-loaded cable stop that keeps the cable and housing out of harm's way and its closed bushings at the pulleys. The Box Two 11-Speed Rear Derailleur is designed for Box's 11 Speed mountain bike groups and comes in the color Matte Onyx. Choose Wide if you plan to run up to a 46t cassette and Extra Wide for up to a 50t cog.
